Niagara Falls, ON
One of the world's most famous travel destinations, Niagara Falls offers a combination of natural beauty and entertainment that has inspired visitors since the 19th century. The impressive 170-ft-/53-m-high Horseshoe Falls on the Canada side and romantic, mist-filled Bridal Veil Falls in the U.S. stand as bookends to the international border. These thundering examples of nature's majesty are located about 80 mi/130 km south of Toronto and 23 mi/37 km north of Buffalo, NY. The Fallsview Casino Resort, one of Canada's largest casinos with 200,000 sq ft/18,580 sq m of games of chance, looms over the famous falls. Newlyweds place their bets on a happily married life every day in local churches and hotels. The area can be seen in a day, but we recommend an overnight stay to view the falls and rapids under different lighting conditions and from both sides of the border (be sure to take along your passport).
