Ivy grew up in the south of Taiwan where she studied international trade, but then found a love of cooking and teaching cooking and decided it was time for a career change. She has been teaching cooking from her home cooking studio since 1997. She is now known and loved by locals and travelers alike for her home cooking school, and writes regularly on food and cooking for local magazines. Ask her about her passion for local organic farms! Your experience will start with a welcoming cup of tea in Ivy’s home cooking studio. Ivy lives in a residential neighborhood about 30 minutes from central Taipei, easily accessible on the main Zhongshan North Road by public transit or cab. She lives in a renovated apartment in an older residential building off the main road. The apartment has an open floor plan with an updated kitchen overlooking the dining area, where you will learn to cook traditional Taiwanese dishes and then enjoy your homecooked meal together. Learn to prepare some of Ivy’s specialties such as braised pork rice, oyster omelet, or three cups chicken. You will also enjoy a seasonal fruit plate and Taiwanese tea tasting. Ivy can prepare a variety of Taiwanese and Chinese dishes so if you have any special requests please note this during booking. Ivy also offers an optional market tour add-on.
